About

On this website, you will find the Case Studies that the students enrolled in ARCH462 and ARCH662: Seminar in Latin American Architecture did during their trips to Latin America. The seminar, along with the trip, is taught and coordinated by Assistant Professor Ane Gonzalez Lara.

The first trip to Chile took place from May 15th to May 31st 2017. During this trip, the students visited Valparaiso, Viña del Mar and Santiago. Each student chose a building that they wanted to study while there. Apart from the tours to different buildings, the students met with local Chilean architects and attended lectures at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago.

This seminar explores the complexities of Latin American architecture to broaden the knowledge of design, composition and construction of contemporary architecture. It also focuses on construction to understand how each country adapts its construction methods to address the climate, program of the building or context.

The students that traveled to Chile on May 2017 are: Patrick Aspaas, Keith Blake, Helena Cardona, Adriana Casas, Jaime Frias, Gabriel Gaytan, Pablo Lituma, Cheyenne More, Adriana Oñate, Victor Pascual and Mila Riquelme-Babankova.
